Hi, I’m Sarah, the writer behind Pete Snaps, a lifestyle and personal finance blog.
Why I Created a Blog
I created this blog as an outlet to grow as a writer and to document what I’ve been learning about personal finance and building an intentional lifestyle.
You can expect to find articles on:
- Personal Finance, i.e., Adulting

The Story Behind the Name
Pete is my childhood nickname. Growing up, my family’s main way of reaching financial independence was leveraging the home building skills and tools gained from my grandfather.
Putting in ‘sweat equity’ to build single family homes was a big part of my childhood/adolescence and Pete was the job site name that came out of that time working with my family.
Pete has since become what my little niece and nephews call me. To them, I’m ‘Aunt Pete’.
Facts About Me
I currently live in South Louisiana with my husband where we’re both working our careers, saving hard, and actively making moves to acquire rentals and ultimately reach our own level of financial independence.
I’m a Christian – I gave my heart to the Lord at around 8 years old, sitting on a Mall bench with my mom who prayed with me after church that Sunday. God had been drawing me towards Himself for months, and thankfully He continues to teach me.
I’m really bad at cleaning my house – There’s few things more satisfying than a nice glass of red wine after deep cleaning your home, but for me that only happens about once a quarter. Unless we have friends or family over–at that point it’s power clean like you’ve never seen before.
I’m an English major – Big shock there. I really enjoy reading, writing, and learning, and ended up finishing my B.A. degree in 3 years using CLEP to test out of classes between semesters.
Career – I currently work fulltime as a Technical Writer.
I overthink everything – The idea of getting something ‘perfect’ and the process of overthinking all my decisions is something that has stunted my writing and little business ventures for too long. Stepping out to publish routinely in my own space on the internet is an attempt to move past those ideas and lean into being a work in progress and being ‘okay’ with slow growth over time.

Ecclesiastes is my favorite book of the Bible – Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 “The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgement, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.”
